While the impact of information and communication technologies (ICTs) is widespread, there is a pressing need to find practical ways to harness ICTs to promote growth and tackle poverty in poor countries. The central issue is: How can ICTs be best used to help the poor? ADBI, working with ADB in Manila to promote the international knowledge management agenda, is actively searching for effective ways to use ICTs to support the development process in the Asia-Pacific region.
As part of its efforts to strengthen its networking and knowledge sharing with developmental organizations in Asia and the Pacific, ADBI has launched this project to review development-oriented CD-ROMs. The objective is to promote the use of development-oriented CD-ROMs in the region by establishing a high-quality CD-ROM review program. The activity will focus on
ADBI will collect CD-ROMs through its established partnership networks with development institutions, NGOs, academe, and the private sector.
We engage independent reviewers to asses the CD-ROMs. The reviewer's comments are personal and do not reflect the views of the organizations for whom they work.

ADBI also has a searchable online library of development-related CD-ROMs. Each entry summarizes the contents and states how to obtain a copy. Many items are free.
