Network of Asian River Basin Organizations 2nd General Meeting & Integrated Water Resources Management Workshop - 2006Post-event Statement

BackgroundThe Network of Asian River Basin Organizations* (NARBO) will hold its 2nd General Meeting to review the implementation of the organization's Action Plan for 2004-2005 and to consolidate ideas for upcoming activities for 2006-2007. NARBO was established to share knowledge and build capacity for Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) in river basins throughout Asia and to strengthen river basin organizations' (RBOs) capacity and effectiveness in promoting IWRM and improving water governance. The Network was officially launched on 20 November 2003 at the 1st South East Asian Water Forum in Chiang Mai, Thailand. NARBO's constitutional body was formed, and the Charter ratified, during the 1st General Meeting* in Indonesia on 24-26 February 2004. To date, NARBO has 43 registered member organizations.
