Participation Criteria

Participants in ADBI training programs come from government agencies, NGOs, academia, and the private sector of ADB's developing member countries (DMCs) in the Asia-Pacific region. Most of our programs are by invitation only, and government officials must be nominated by their coordinating ministry or agency.

For government officials, except from the countries noted in the box below, the coordinating agency is the Ministry of Finance, and expressions of interest to attend an ADBI course should be sent to the person responsible for coordinating ADB and ADBI affairs in the Ministry of Finance.

All other DMCs Ministry of Finance

For nongovernment applicants, send expressions of interest with a curriculum vitae directly to the ADBI contact person listed in the course.

Participants must be citizens of an ADB developing member country and are selected based on

1. Some or all of these criteria:

  • the recommendation from a member government or ADB official
  • the relevance of their background and/or experience to the training that is being offered
  • the current position they hold and their occupational duties
  • their proficiency level in the language of instruction
  • their ability to use the content of the course to train others, thereby transferring the knowledge to a wider audience
  • any other prerequisites that may apply to the particular program
  • their educational attainment
  • participation in a previous ADBI or ADB program

2. Space availability

3. Concern for geographic, gender, or background balance and diversity

4. Evidence of any endorsements or clearances that may be required for government officials by the authorizing government agency.
