Toshimasa Mae

Brief Biography Toshimasa Mae joined ADBI in June 2009, after serving in the Ministry of Finance, Japan. In the Ministry, he had centered his career on development finance, handling issues concerning the Asian Development Bank, the World Bank, and the Development Assistance Committee in the OECD. He also dealt with issues on regional financial cooperation, such as ASEAN+3 and the Asia Europe Meeting (ASEM) in 2006-2008. In addition, he had been in charge of anti-money laundering and terrorist financing in 2002-2003, at the time when negotiations were ongoing in the Financial Action Task Force on the revision of its 40 recommendations. He had also served as a Tax Examiner in the Kanazawa Regional Taxation Bureau.
During his career in the Ministry, he had experienced tasks abroad. From 1996 to 1999, he served as an Advisor to the Executive Director for Japan in the World Bank, in Washington, D.C. From 2003 to 2006, he served as a staff in the OECD in Paris, coordinating its outreach activities with Asian non-member countries.
He has a Master in Diplomatic Studies from the University of Westminster, London, and a Bachelor in Education from Kanazawa University.
