Teruo Ujiie
Senior Capacity Building Specialist

Brief Biography

Teruo Ujiie obtained his Bachelor of Law from Kanagawa University, and his Master of Business Administration at Ateneo De Manila University. Before joining ADBI in August 2007, he worked as Trade Specialist with the Economics and Research Department in ADB Headquarters, dealing mainly with capacity building and technical assistance activities in the areas of customs, WTO and taxation.

Prior to joining ADB in 1999, Mr. Ujiie worked at the Customs and Tariff Bureau, Japan’s Ministry of Finance as Deputy Director for APEC, ASEM, WCO and WTO affairs. From 1990 to 1995, he worked at GSP Section, International Trade Division of UNCTAD (United Nations Conference on Trade and Development) as Acting Chief-cum-coordinator for the Inter-regional Technical Cooperation Programme on GSP and Trade Laws, where he undertook missions to more than 90 countries.
